Just as I learned to think broadly about life-saving
heroes, we all have more artists in our lives than we realize. I've been collecting and exchanging art since college, so Martin's collection is bigger than he realized. Before launching Found Objects to sell artistic gifts to museum gift shops, my ex Janet McKean managed the MCA Chicago store, introducing me to renowned creators. Sometimes meeting, working with, or buying art from heroes doesn't disappoint.

Will the collection only be made up of art by North Carolina artists?
As my collection of Ed Besch, Michael Rees, and Corky Dean paintings show, there can be exceptions to the contemporary North Carolina artist rule.
Who funds the collection?
This collection is an artistic time capsule funded by my estate to support cherished North Carolina artists. These works will escape time's grasp to inspire future generations. It transforms savings into enduring advocacy supporting the arts community I love.
What types of art are you interested in for the collection?
I love all kinds of art, so it is hard to say what will be the next painting or sculpture we buy, so when in doubt Submit Your Art.
Will there be additional ways to support the artists chosen for the collection?
we plan to add a store to the site soon, see our VISION page for more on our plans. Sales and 100% of the profits from the store will continue to support artists in the collection after I'm gone.
